Pashinski announces $103,781 funding for pedestrian crossing in Laurel Run

WILKES-BARRE — Rep. Eddie Day Pashinski on Thursday said a new pedestrian crossing on Laurel Run Road aims to enhance pedestrian safety and improve accessibility in the area.

Pashinski, D-Wilkes-Barre announced a $103,781 grant allocated for the implementation of a mid-block pedestrian crossing over East Northampton Street at Giant’s Despair/Heritage Park in Laurel Run Borough.

Pashinski said the grant, which comes through the state’s initiative to improve infrastructure, will fund the design and installation of a needed pedestrian crossing. The project is expected to create a safer environment for both residents and visitors.

“This grant will make a meaningful impact on the daily lives of those who walk along this stretch of road,” said Pashinski. “Improving pedestrian safety is essential, and this funding will ensure that our community remains connected while also keeping pedestrians safe.”

Pashinski said the new mid-block pedestrian crossing will not only provide a safe and designated path for pedestrians, but it will also help reduce traffic congestion and enhance the overall quality of life in the region.

The project is part of Pashinski’s ongoing efforts to support infrastructure improvements and prioritize the safety of local communities.

“This is a win for Laurel Run Borough, and I am proud to be able to bring this vital funding to our community,” Pashinski said. “Together, we can continue to build a safer, more connected future for all.”
