DALLAS — To help educate residents on the prevalence of human trafficking, Rep. Brenda Pugh will host “Behind the Screen: How to Protect Your Children from Human Trafficking in a Digital World.”
“Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the nation, and children are frequently being victimized right in their own homes, often via the internet,” said Pugh, R-Dallas Township. “I am hosting this event to help parents, grandparents and others in the community learn how to recognize and combat this crime.”
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Dallas High School, 2030 Conyngham Ave.
Guest speakers joining Rep. Pugh include: Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday; Luzerne County District Attorney Sam Sanguedolce; Tom Mosca, co-chair of the NEPA Task Force against Human Trafficking; and Chaz Balogh of ourrescue.org and handler for Spike, a K9 electronic scent detection dog.
Pugh said parents can bring their teenage children to begin these difficult discussions — but she said they should be aware that this subject matter is not recommended for young children.
RSVP is encouraged, but not required, at RepPugh.com or by calling the District Office at 570-283-1001.
The 120th Legislative District includes the boroughs of Courtdale, Exeter, Forty Fort, Kingston, Luzerne, Pringle, Swoyersville, West Wyoming and Wyoming and the townships of Dallas, Exeter, Franklin, Jackson and Kingston in Luzerne County.
