It’s terrible, not knowing what happened to Bingo.
The last time his worried owner, Bunnie Veet, saw him, it was June 19, and the 16-year-old chihuahua was in her yard on Locust Street in Hazleton, surrounded by a tall fence.
“He was very friendly, he would go with anybody,” said Veet, who has been running advertisements in the lost & found columns of area newspapers.
Veet is offering a reward for the dog’s return, and her daughter Tricia specifies, “no questions asked.” They’d just like to have him back.
Bingo was a faithful companion to Bunnie Veet’s late husband, Lawrence, and after his death in 2016, the pup became her little buddy.
“It’s hard to say,” Bunnie Veet said, sounding tearful in a telephone interview. “I just miss him being here. He’s light brown and he’s got white underneath his chin and down by his stomach. He was wearing a blue collar, with all his tags.”
Veet, a 75-year-old retiree who has Parkinson’s Disease, surmises the dog could have run out of the yard “if somebody came in or went out and didn’t make sure the gate was latched.”
It’s also possible that someone saw how cute he was and just took him.
More than three years ago he was missing for a week, until Tricia Veet recognized him being walked by someone else on a nearby street.
This time, Tricia has posted Bingo’s photo all through the neighborhood and on social media.
“We keep getting calls and calls and calls,” Bunnie Veet said. “My son runs to check it out; we went as far as White Haven.”
So far, none of the clues have led to Bingo.
If anyone who might have him or know where he is, Bunnie Veet said, “Please, I miss him. It’s not that he has a big health problem but he gets sick quite a bit and we do give him medicine. He needs his medicine.”
