RNC chair McDaniel, Sen. Scott make Luzerne County stop

KINGSTON — With two weeks left in the 2022 midterm election campaign, the Republican Party brought some big guns to town Tuesday.

Ronna Romney McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, stopped by the Luzerne County GOP headquarters and she brought U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, R-Florida, with her to fire up a crowd of about 100 supporters.

With campaign signs throughout the room and a GOP-adorned ceramic elephant in the corner, McDaniel, Scott, U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser and Republican candidate Jim Bognet delivered a strong message to the group — vote Republican and send House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright packing.

P.J. Pribula, Chair of the Luzerne County Republican party, opened the event by telling the crowd, “We have two weeks until the most important election of our lifetime. We need to get out and vote and we need you to tell 10 people to vote and have them each tell 10 more people.”

Pribula then brought out McDaniel who promptly fired up the crowd with, “Are you ready to fire Nancy Pelosi?”

McDaniel then said that Pennsylvania is the most important state in the 2022 midterm election, largely because control of the U.S. Senate could hinge on the outcome of the Dr. Mehmet Oz/John Fetterman contest. And she said the 8th Congressional District race between Democrat incumbent Matt Cartwright and GOP challenger Jim Bognet could also help to swing control of Congress to the Republicans.

“Matt Cartwright votes with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time,” McDaniel said. “The Democrats have turned their backs on every single key issue. We need you to work hard. Now is not the time to be bashful or shy. Remind everyone you know of how important it is for them to get out and vote. You all have to make the effort.”

Scott started by complimenting Pennsylvania’s weather and the fall foliage before he took his turn stressing the importance of the Nov. 8 general election.

“Every race is important,” Scott said. “We have to win the Senate race in Pennsylvania. And if we’re going to win, we have to get the vote out.”

Scott said the American people are fed up with the way the country is headed, citing the economy and border control two key issues.

Meuser said: “The Democrats have wrecked everything. They have not done a good job. Blame it on Biden and the Biden Democrats. We can do something about it on Nov. 8.”
