2nd Annual Martz Bus Roadeo held in Mohegan Sun Arena parking lot

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Two Luzerne County motorcoach operators finished in the top two spots Wednesday in the 2nd Annual Martz Bus Roadeo at the Mohegan Sun Arena parking lot.

Drivers from the company’s three locations — Pennsylvania, Florida and Maryland — competed in the exercise that highlights motorcoach driving skills and promotes safety.

The top operators from each location advanced to Wednesday’s event where they competed for cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights.

Angelo Concert of Harveys Lake was the top finisher, followed by Sergio Vellez of Hazleton. Also competing were Robert Schuhl, Maryland, third place; Link Ogle, Florida, fourth place; and Anthony Jones, Maryland, fifth place.

The final-round competition was held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mohegan Sun Arena parking lot in Wilkes-Barre Township.

The event was coordinated by Salvatore Caccavale, Director of Safety for Martz.

Martz Bus, founded in 1908, is headquartered in Wilkes-Barre and offers commuter, charter, tour and college shuttle services at its three locations.

Vying for cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights are the top two finishers from regional competition in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida.

The event is coordinated by Salvatore Caccavale, Martz director of safety.
