The Pennsylvania Turnpike on Friday issued an advisory to travelers that a section of the Northeast Extension (Interstate 476) will be closed during the early morning hours of Sunday, Aug. 25, to allow for beams to be placed as part of a bridge replacement project.
The Northeast Extension will be closed in both directions between the Pocono (Exit 95) and Wyoming Valley (Exit 115) interchanges between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Sunday so crews can safely conduct the necessary work as part of a project to replace a bridge along the Wilkes Barre (Exit 105) interchange at milepost A-105.33 in Bear Creek Township.
Pennsylvania State Police and turnpike personnel will be positioned at the impacted areas to assist drivers.
Digital message signs will also provide information on the closure. Motorists are encouraged to plan travel accordingly.
Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
