Mohegan Arena and SAVOR celebrate $174,000 raised for local nonprofits

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Officials of the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza on Thursday announced the organization’s nonprofit concession stand program contributed more than $170,000 to support seven local nonprofit organizations throughout 2024 — showcasing the venue’s commitment to giving back and strengthening the Northeastern Pennsylvania community.

As part of an annual community-driven initiative, SAVOR — Mohegan Arena’s food and beverage concessionaire and culinary division of ASM Global — provided opportunities for area nonprofits to operate concession stands during events at the arena.

In return, a portion of the proceeds from each stand at the ASM Global-managed venue supported these organizations’ missions, helping them make a positive impact in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to see the incredible results of this partnership,” said Justin Topa, marketing manager of Mohegan Arena. “Our food and beverage team’s dedication to supporting our community and giving back through their nonprofit concessions program exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and generosity we value so deeply.”

The seven participating nonprofits represent a number of causes tailored toward youth development and community sports programs. Through their efforts, these organizations not only raised vital funds, but also connected with thousands of event attendees, showcasing the importance of their work.

Among the organizations who participated in the Mohegan Arena program were — the Blue Starz Cheer Team; Broadway Boosters; Clark Summit University Baseball; Diamond Devils Club; Dupont Youth Baseball; Grind Baseball Team; and World Cup All-Star Cheerleading.

The Mohegan Arena also worked with the Wilkes-Barre Area Wolfpack Booster Club, who aided in event parking to raise funds for their program.

“This initiative is about more than just raising money,” said Chuck Kovach, director of food and beverage for the Mohegan Arena. “It’s about empowering local organizations and creating a sense of community pride. We’re honored to work alongside these organizations, enabling our guests and neighbors to help make a difference for the kids in our communities.”

• In 2024, the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza hosted 96 events, welcoming more than 363,000 residents and visitors, further cementing its role as a premier entertainment destination in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

• The arena served thirsty guests more than 43,000 bottles of water, 57,000 sodas and 76,000 beers and seltzers throughout 2024.

• Among the top food items purchased throughout the year were more than 27,000 orders of crab fries from Chickie’s & Pete’s and 26,000 soft pretzels.

Mohegan Arena and their SAVOR team look forward to continuing this impactful nonprofit concession program in 2025, aiming to raise even more for the organizations that help make Northeastern Pennsylvania a vibrant and caring community.
