Forty Fort police nab wanted man who is facing burglary charges

FORTY FORT — A man wanted on allegations he skipped a sentencing hearing before a Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas judge in December was apprehended during a trespass investigation.

Carl Elgin, 48, of Oak Street, Forty Fort, is facing two counts of criminal trespass and one count each of burglary and possessing instruments of crime, alleging he stood on a rear porch of a residence on Tripp Street at about 7:45 p.m. Aug. 8, according to Forty Fort police.

Elgin left the property prior to officers arriving at the scene, but recovered several knives that were left behind, police say.

Police say they obtained surveillance footage in the area that identified Elgin who was on the rear porch of the Tripp Street residence.

Elgin was apprehended and jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility on a judge’s bench warrant issued Dec. 4 when he failed to appear to be sentenced on charges of access device fraud and criminal conspiracy to commit access device fraud stemming from an investigation by Duryea police, court records say.

Duryea police in court records say Elgin used credit cards of a deceased person to purchase items at various stores totaling more than $5,400.
