DENNISON TWP. — A man died at a local hospital and other people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 Sunday night.
The Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton reported Amode Quadik Allen, age and address unknown, died in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
Allen was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped off the right shoulder of the interstate near mile marker 265.8 when it was struck by another vehicle, which became airborne and was struck by a tractor-trailer at about 8:23 p.m., state police reported.
State police reported there were multiple serious injuries and I-80 eastbound was closed for approximately five hours.
Allen was flown to Geisinger Wyoming Valley where he died shortly after arrival.
Patrol troopers were assisted by the Troop N Collision Analysis and Reconstructionist Specialist along with the Troop N Forensic Services Unit.
State police say the investigation is on-going.
