Come celebrate with us!

WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Has it been 25 years already?!

That’s is a question I often hear when mentioning the 25th anniversary of the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza.

Not only is it true, we’d like you to come celebrate this milestone with us!

The first time our anniversary committee got together two years ago, it was agreed upon that we wanted a way to say thank you to the community for it’s support and attendance over the years and we wanted to keep it affordable.

So, on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, at 7 p.m., we are offering up a fun, celebratory, community concert featuring the yacht rock band from Los Angeles — Yachtley Crew! Opening act will be Eddie Day Pashinski and TNT.

Tickets start at $25 and are available on Ticketmaster.com and at the M&T Bank box office up to the day and time of the event.

Reflecting upon 25 years, I offer a huge thank you to the Arena’s inaugural board of directors for their foresight and perseverance along with the numerous additional community leaders who worked tirelessly to make the Arena become a reality.

The Arena’s economic impact is unquestionable and we should all have a great deal of pride that we are fortunate enough to have such an entertainment venue in our area. Personally, I had the great honor of being appointed to the board back in 2008.

We have worked diligently to keep the Arena modern with state-of-the-art improvements and the dreaded repairs. The Arena is no different than owning a home as it needs repairs and updates. The only challenge is the Arena’s repairs and updates cost a great deal more.

If I had to choose one word to describe the Arena it would be “IMPACT!” Not only the impact it has had on the area, but the impact it has made in people’s lives. There is nothing like working your heart out and in return seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they see their favorite artist, or when the Penguins score a goal or when a youngster sees Mickey Mouse on ice!

I think those times fulfill the vision of those who fought so hard to bring an Arena to us. I offer to all involved — thank you for 25 years of memories!
