Man pleads guilty to open lewdness, disorderly conduct outside church

WILKES-BARRE — A Lackawanna County man found wearing no clothing below his waist and performing a self-lewd act in front of a church pleaded guilty to open lewdness and disorderly conduct.

Richard A. Tremmel, 47, of Archbald, pleaded guilty to the charges during a preliminary hearing in Luzerne County Central Court on Wednesday.

Prosecutors withdrew an indecent exposure charge against Tremmel.

Wilkes-Barre police in court records say Tremmel sat on the front steps of a church in the 500 block of North Main Street near Linden Street at about 10:30 a.m. on July 30.

Tremmel was not wearing any clothing below his waist when encountered by officers and had performed a self-lewd act in public alarming others, court records say.

Tremmel was fined $574.
