Wilkes-Barre man pleads guilty to assaulting nurse in dispute about a sandwich

WILKES-BARRE — A man from Wilkes-Barre pled guilty to shoving an emergency room nurse at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre because no one delivered him a sandwich.

Michael Luther Tillmon, 39, of Stanton Street, pled guilty to simple assault before Luzerne County Judge Joseph F. Sklarosky Jr.

Tillmon also pled guilty to defiant trespass for trespassing at at the James F. Conahan Intermodal Transportation Center on South Washington Street on April 22, court records say.

Tillmon had been given previous notice to stay away from the Intermodal center.

Court records say Tillmon was in the emergency room and began cursing and yelling while demanding a sandwich on Feb. 6. A female nurse told Tillmon to calm down and she would get him a sandwich.

Tillmon got out of the hospital bed, shoved the nurse who struck medical machines and fell to the floor, court records say.

Tillmon is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 7.
